With respect: Peter Miguel Camejo Dec. 31,1939 - Sept.13, 2008 We lost a giant
this weekend. Peter Miguel Camejo died Saturday morning at home, his family at
his side. Many others will chronicle his many accomplishments in the political
and social activist arenas. For us, we remember his leadership in the SRI
movement, instilling his enthusiasm in all of us at PAM through two decades of
constantly pushing the envelope, striving to do things that had never been done
before. PAM will miss his passion, his eloquence and his brilliance. Most of all
though we simply and gently mourn the passing of a comrade, colleague, mentor
and good friend.
No one's vision and energy had more impact on what Progressive Asset Management
is today than Peter Camejo. Peter was relentless in calling out financial and
political elites for engineering the decades long course of ever increasing
concentration of wealth and power our country suffers from today. His idea of a
brokerage firm being the financial "wing" of the next great social movement
working towards the day when environmental and economic justice takes precedence
over corporate greed was always, to us, the premise and the promise of
client-driven socially and environmentally responsible investing.
Many of us joined PAM because of Peter Camejo's vision of what a brokerage
company should be, and have remained at PAM through the years to participate in
realizing that vision. That work continues Peter, and that's our promise to you.
As Peter's family advises us of their wishes as to memorials or donations, we
will pass them along to the SRI community.
Kind Regards,
Richard Torgerson
Eric Leenson
and everyone in the PAM family
