Investing in Your Community

As a complement to Social Screening and Shareholder Advocacy strategies, PAM offers clients the ability to make investments in programs that have direct social benefits.

"High Impact" Social Investments
From time to time, PAM Network brokers and their clients have access to unique investment opportunities with a high degree of social or environmental impact. Client investments provide capital to financially under-served communities and alternative investment projects. As examples, clients have recently invested in a state-of-the-art wind turbine company and, through their capital, have supported an established worker-owned cooperative that markets coffee and chocolate using "fair trade" practices.

PAM Community Investment Notes1
PAM Community Investments is a powerful social investment program, professionally managed by the Calvert Social Investment Foundation, a pioneer in the field of community investing. Your investment provides essential capital for successful community development, microcredit and low-income housing loan programs helping disadvantaged people and their communities.

Your PAM Community Investment enables innovative programs that have developed a new way to help people out of poverty. Because these programs work by making loans, not gifts, your investment actually becomes a partner with hard working communities and individuals. It will be lent out and repaid over and over throughout the investment term - bringing real and measurable results. Given the nature of this investment, you will receive a below-market rate of return, which will benefit the loan recipients.

1  Before making an investment, clients must read the Community Investment Notes
    Prospectus
. An investment in Community Investment Notes is neither insured nor
guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or Securities Investor
Protection Corporation (SIPC) or any other government agency.

How PAM Community Investments Work
You invest in PAM Community Investments by purchasing a fixed-rate Community Investment Note in amounts as low as $1,000.

· You choose the interest rate between 0 - 3%2

· You choose your investment term (1-, 3-, 5-, 7-, or 10-year)

· You choose to target your investment to specific organizations3 or to target geographic/topical areas of interest. Or, you can simply allow the Calvert Foundation to place your investment where it's needed most

2  An interest rate of 3% is available ONLY for terms of 5-, 7-, and 10-years.
3 Targeting to individual groups in the portfolio is available between $10,000 and $25,000
   per group.

Your investment is managed by the Calvert Foundation and has the advantage of many credit enhancements, including several million dollars in subordinated debt. Calvert Foundation pioneered this type of investment, and they have developed a nation-wide and international multi-million dollar community loan portfolio.

Who Benefits from Your Community Investment?
With PAM Community Investments, you invest in homes and neighborhoods and role models, in self-help and self-sufficiency, in new jobs and new hope.

· Through community development loan programs, your money is lent to revitalize urban communities - to create more jobs, provide good daycare, and reinforce locally-owned business.

· Through microcredit programs, your money is lent to help people start or strengthen their own businesses.

· And through affordable housing programs, your money builds and refurbishes housing that low-income people can afford to buy or rent.
